Recently, a certain research institute received an outdoor testing assignment from a particular department and began a month-long test in a desert region with high temperatures, using our company’s RF power amplifier.

Desert testing has high requirements.
In desert regions, the climate is dry year-round with scarce rainfall, and daily temperature fluctuations are extremely pronounced. During midday in summer and autumn, near-surface temperatures can soar to between 60 and 80 degrees Celsius. Due to their unique geological conditions and scorching temperatures, deserts often serve as ideal testing grounds for a wide variety of products.
The demanding testing environment places even higher requirements on testing equipment. Due to the impact of extreme temperatures, desert testing not only requires the test equipment to operate under high-temperature conditions but also imposes further demands on its operational performance and stability.

For a long time, heat dissipation has been a challenging issue in power amplifier design. Nanjing Huakai Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. has enhanced the high-temperature resistance of its equipment by strengthening both its structural design and testing procedures.
From a structural perspective, the design incorporates a radiator paired with a sealed enclosure, effectively creating a negative-pressure chamber that meets the requirements for electromagnetic compatibility testing. Meanwhile, inside the RF power amplifier equipment, a special grounding technique is employed, featuring protective circuits that can prevent various types of damage, including overcurrent, overvoltage, overheating, overexcitation, and excessive standing-wave ratios.
In terms of temperature reliability and factory quality testing, each RF power amplifier must undergo high- and low-temperature tests upon leaving the factory, with an 8-hour continuous power-on stress test conducted at a maximum temperature of 60℃ and a minimum temperature of -20℃.
